Summary:

A person placed under conservatorship by a court as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism cannot purchase, receive or possess any firearm or deadly weapon. The court shall immediately notify the Department of Justice of the court order placing the person under conservatorship and prohibiting firearm or deadly weapon possession. All information provided to the Department of Justice about a conservatorship by a court due to a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism shall be kept confidential, separate, and apart from all other records maintained by the Department of Justice, and shall be used only to determine eligibility to purchase or possess firearms or other deadly weapons. All the information concerning any person shall be destroyed upon receipt by the Department of Justice of notice of the termination of conservatorship as to that person.

Any person who knowingly furnishes information relating to the conservatorship by a court due to a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism for any other purpose (i.e. not determining the eligibility of firearms possession) is guilty of a misdemeanor.
