The California Privacy and Security Advisory Board (CalPSAB) Legal Committee
will identify and recommend methods to harmonize applicable state and federal
laws concerning privacy and security standards for the exchange of health
information and to recommend a legal structure to support the protection of
individual privacy in an electronic health exchange. The committee consists of
attorneys and other individuals from a broad spectrum of private and public
entities and concerned community members.
The Legal Committee will appoint task groups to focus on specific issues.

Task Groups
The Legal Committee will appoint task groups to focus on specific issues. To
date, the following task groups have been formed.
Legal Question Formation Task Group
Co-Chairperson/Contacts:
The legal question formation task group meets with the Privacy, Security or
Education Committees’ task groups or members to assist them in forming a
question for legal review. The task group explores the context and the
assumptions of the question to ensure that the legal analysis will ultimately be
helpful.
Privacy Task Group

The privacy task group will work jointly with the privacy base task group to
provide an overview on the state of the law concerning the right of privacy in
the health setting. This high-level summary will supplement the CHILI and the
matrix that the privacy base group prepared to provide guidance in making future
determinations.
